England Athletics Regional Awards night - 27th Sept 2007

Birtley success on two fronts!

England Athletics North East Region hosted their inaugral awards dinner at Ramside Hall Durham on Wednesday night. Birtley AC were nominated in two catagories and I am pleased to report that we were successful in both.

Congratulations go to Sam McCarthy who's outstanding work for Birtley AC in the volunteer sector won him the club volunteer of the year award. Sam will now go forward as the Regional representative to be considered for the National Awards ceremony to be held in December in Birmingham.

The second award recognised the hard work put in to build our partnership agreement with Lord Lawson of Beamish School. To have this partnership recognised by a Regional Award from the Governing body of the sport is a tremendous achievement and can only help in our bid to develop athletics facilities in the town.
