Tricky one this one, I was wanting to watch a couple of races in particular, but was doing the Mac Bailes stall at the St Benets school fayre from 2.00pm. (Hotdog and burger stall)
I arrived with Adrian and his mate only to find the car parks full. That was a surprise I didn’t realise there was a cricket match on. So I dropped them off at the track, and went searching for a parking space. On the way back I met Mandy, Amanda and Emma’s mother and together we trekked back to the track. It was nice to see the lasses, as they had been missing the last couple of meetings, and hadn’t run with us for a while, I don’t think Mark was as pleased, because they verbally beat him up and tortured him all afternoon. (I think he enjoyed it really).
I only saw the 100’s, and saw Kate Murphy win her race comfortably, then the 800’s, Sophie Taylor winning comfortably as did Adrian, and Steph Loraine. Mark struggled this year as he had moved up to under 15 this year, but despite not qualifying still managed to knock 5 seconds off his pb, don’t know what Alan Wear was thinking of, he looked dead comfortable at the front of his race, but 10metres from the end seemed to slow down to allow two people to pass him. I asked him later and he didn’t seem sure himself what he had done.
I saw Ade and Paige both win and qualify for the high jump, and heard Robbie won his 1500 convincingly.
Anything else will just be hearsay, and this page doesn’t do gossip, I am sure you all know that. So that is about all, unless you want to know how much I made on my hot dog stall…£320 in 3 hours.
Oh yes two more observations, Tracy Laws was not there, and once again the lasses beat the lads in the relay, and once again by 3 seconds. I think it is time someone took them under their wing and tried to explain that they are supposed to beat the girls!!!! 3-0 to the lasses, I wonder if we got Alan Wear to run the lads first leg if they would get any closer to the girls times???
