Cross Country Season 2006-2007.

Prudhoe Harrier League last Saturday (17th March) saw the end of the cross country races for this season, (i.e. Harrier League, Metro Relays & ECCAA Area Championships) and once again it has been the minority of the club members who have competed throughout the winter, but despite this I think we have had one of our most successful years. Well done to all athletes who competed & did there bit for the Club. These athletes will continue competing throughout the summer (either Track & Field or Road) and would have benefited from the winter competition (lots of PB's!).

Well done to the following athletes :

U13 Boys Adrian Bailes, Robbie Loraine, Adam Hogarth, Mark Bailes, Kieron Clarke.

U13 Girls Paige Howell, Sophie Taylor, Bethan Oakes, Chelsea Moody, Holly Falcus.

U15 Girls Steph Loraine, Sophie Robinson, Jessica Wilson.

U15 Boys Sam Hogarth, Josh Scott, James Bennett.

U17 Women Carla Donnan, Monique Howell, Rebbeca Pottinger, Nichola Bain.

U17 Men Richard Hopkins, David Barraclough.

Sen. Women Maggie Loraine, Kelly Bentley.

Sen. Men Simon Donkin, Vince Taylor, Lee Millmore, Dave Ranson, Zak Scott (U20), Karl Oakes, Patrick Kelly, Brian Bailes, Adam Greenwood (U20), Rob Anderson, Fred Smith, Alan Wear (U20).

Low Points of the Cross Country season? Only 36 athletes, of which maybe only a hand full being ever present. Cross Country isn't for everyone, and some members are field eventers, but surely a club our size can have full teams throughout all age groups in the Harrier Leagues? Maybe next year?

High Points of the Cross Country Season?

2 Athletes won awards for the overall Harrier positions, Monique Howell1st U17 Woman, Sophie Taylor 2nd U13 Girl.

3 Athletes won individual medals at Harrier Leagues, Robbie Loraine, Bethan Oakes, Monique Howell.

A number of athletes were in the first year of their age group, so next season should produce even better positions.

We've had 3 U20 athletes competing at cross country over the winter, a first time for the Club, and what makes it better is that they have been at the Club since being U13's.

2 senior athletes were in the fast pack for the Harrier Leagues (Lee & Zak), both of them being at the Club since starting athletics as U13's.

The senior men have had teams in every Harrier League, just missing out on promotion (so lets do it next year!) The senior men had a full 6 counting team in the Nationals at Sunderland (the first time for many a year), and finished above clubs who were beating us at the Harrier Leagues.

So thanks & well done again to all who have competed and here's to a good summer season.
